The pub is a charming old building whose mellow red brick walls are smothered with wisteria and hanging baskets of flowers.

The inn's earliest deeds date back to 1730 and it is known that it opened as a pub on 1st June 1798.

The unusual name is a cricketing term, inspired by the pub’s own cricketing team who play just opposite on Sunday afternoons.
